After attending George Washington University, GFX President Fanny Hanono joined her father in 1988 to help run his automotive business, Carfel, Inc. Fanny quickly streamlined operations to focus on a more robust and vertically integrated automatic transmission parts business. At the time, there was skepticism about whether the use of automatic transmissions would gain popularity worldwide.

After Fanny was named President, the company exploded into an industry-leading multi-million-dollar operation. Carfel’s success attracted the interest and attention of numerous corporations. In 2001, SPX Corporation acquired Carfel and rolled it into the SPX Filtran Aftermarket division.

Today, GFX is a world leader in the design and manufacture of automatic transmission kits and components. Based in Miami, Florida, the company employs over 100 people worldwide in their engineering, product development, manufacturing, testing, and distribution facility. Currently, GFX occupies over 100,000 square feet of space in multiple buildings in three countries. GFX also operates manufacturing, office, warehouse, and distribution facilities in the Netherlands with a manufacturing facility in China.
